The winners of the "young emissary online diplomacy" international understanding education activity launched by Suzhou Education Association for International Exchange have been announced recently. After three months of online cooperative cross-cultural research-based learning, students from International Department Zou Mingyi, Wang Yao and Wang Hanzhu have made remarkable achievements in this activity.
Excellent Video Award Zou Mingyi & Lauren Beaumont
Outstanding academic award Wang Yao & Wang Hanzhu & Maisie McLaughlin & Ruby boyaval
With the teacher's careful guidance, students worked on the "green home" environmental protection theme, with international understanding education as the core guiding spirit, starting from the "3R" concept, expressed their concern about environmental problems and their firm determination to improve the ecological environment from their own.
Tips: three principles of circular economy -- 3R
Reducing resource utilization and waste emissions - reduce
Strive to recycle waste -- reuse
Vigorously implement the recycling system of materials -- recycling
In the preparation process, students give full play to their creative ability and the spirit of cooperation and communication, and produce a variety of theme design works. Zou Mingyi's entries are in a novel form. She records her process of making clothes from recycled waste (newspapers, plastic bags, cardboard boxes, etc.) in the form of vlog. Words and pictures are used in the video to help understand. It is simple and eye-catching.
Zou Mingyi said frankly that "the biggest difficulty is the problem of time difference. Because my partner is in the UK, we must choose to communicate in the afternoon in China to ensure that the e-mail sent to each other can be answered in time."
Based on the profound thinking of the living environment, Wang Yao and Wang Hanzhu decided to take "the current situation of waste classification in Suzhou" as the research point. Through the form of questionnaire survey, the investigation on the implementation of mass action, the survey on the satisfaction of the masses to the measures and the investigation of the masses' opinions on the progress were made.
Although the research experience is insufficient and the connection with the US emissary is often off line, with the help of the instructor patiently, they have obtained professional questionnaires and constantly optimized their research ideas in the communication.
Finally, the survey results are presented in a pure English PPT, including ① research purpose, ② questionnaire content and survey results; ③ dialogue content and discussion results with American emissaries; ④ analysis of the current situation of waste classification in Suzhou; ⑤ suggestions for Suzhou government.
For the award, the three students are very honored. Looking back on the time and effort they have spent over the past three months, this honor is a recognition of their previous efforts.
After three months of research and study, Wang Yao concluded that "this is a very meaningful activity. Maybe our research results can improve the status quo of garbage classification in Suzhou in some aspects and make the living environment of residents more environmental friendly and clean. This is also some improvement we have made for the ecological environment through our own strength." While sharing his feelings with editor, Wang Hanzhu couldn't help but think of "making garbage classification completely feasible in Suzhou." According to the research report, he put forward new problems: "the problem of mass autonomy still exists, and the following problems still need to be solved. How does the government mobilize the residents' initiative in garbage classification? How to keep the concept of environmental protection and garbage classification in people's minds for a long time? How to optimize the capital allocation of waste classification related industries? I hope our research is a good start, can bring inspiration to others and ourselves, and more and more good solutions will appear in the future. "
Once again, congratulations to Wang Yao, Wang Hanzhu and Zou Mingyi of the international department for their excellent achievements in the "young emissary online diplomacy" international understanding education theme activity. I hope that the three students will continue their efforts and serve as good examples for younger students! At the moment, we just wants to say that it's hard to not get into the world's top 100 universities after winning so many awards and holding so many high-quality certificates!
